Here’s a cool 5-star review Loophole received from Readers’ Favorite!

In Loophole by Alex Hugie, Alannah Merlot has a few months to spare before starting classes at the nearby university’s art department. Alannah accepted an internship at Extrospect, a Colorado Springs magazine, as a staff assistant and part-time cartoonist. In Alannah’s world, Visage was responsible for the fact that a person’s actions determined their physical appearance. If you are a good person, you will look beautiful, but if you are a horrible person, you will have ugly gray splotches on your face. Before she knew it, Alannah had been drawn into a societal battle as her desire to do good was being unexpectedly challenged. While looking into a large-scale conspiracy, Alannah got caught up in saving a group of discredited people whose past sins had sentenced them to a life of pain.

Loophole was a thrilling, action-packed story with a hint of the supernatural. Right up until the very end, Alex Hugie had me captivated, and I was guessing all the way. I was always on the edge of my seat because of how quickly the story moved along. The characters had a great deal of depth and were realistic. In addition to being open-minded and kind-hearted, Alannah was driven to achieve flawless beauty. It was pleasant and fulfilling to see Alannah accept accountability for her choices. It was hard for me to figure out who was involved in the heinous events in Colorado Springs and who to trust. Alex Hugie has a strong sense of humor and a great imagination, and the story is masterfully crafted.
