Under the alias Bob Snicket, my younger self fostered an extremely healthy obsession with Super Smash Bros. This resulted in the hundreds of thousands of words linked to on this page. The subject matter of these novels is so very useful in life and is 100% professional, Tolkien-level literature. The characters are all astoundingly well developed and complex, and the plot is absolutely flawless and without holes. And the relatable audience for a video game-based story is absolutely everyone.
In all seriousness, though, these stories were a good opportunity for me to practice my writing, and from the first to the third book one can see how far I came over the years. While The Trophies is kind of a mess, I like to think there are gems of quality among the refuse. I also like to think its two successors are much better thought out, hint at more character complexity, and even touch on some important human/philosophical themes.
That said, I don’t really expect people to go from here and read them all cover to cover, unless the subject interests them. I’m mainly linking to them here as a sort of timeline, a record or legacy of my writing abilities being put to a whimsical, unmarketable use.
You’re welcome.
The Trophies
Witness the birth of the Super Smash Brothers as the diverse heroes of the Nintendo World unite to defeat Master Hand—and to discover the truth behind their own existence. Who is Master Hand? Why does he sponsor the never-ending cycle of Smash tournaments? An epic tale of journeys, tournaments, war, and shocking discoveries that will answer this and many other unresolved questions.
The Forgotten Rights of Passage
Where one question is answered, two more arise. Now that the Smash Brothers have established peace in the Nintendo World, they turn to another mystery that haunts their past. Soon they discover that their universe is much bigger than they’d realized. Inspired by the historic seizure of RareWare by Microsoft, which forever impacted Banjo & Kazooie, Donkey Kong, and other worlds.
Heart of the Kingdom
Super Smash Bros. meets Kingdom Hearts. In this dark, shocking conclusion to the Trophies series, Sora has failed to save his universe—the Disney Universe—from Xehanort’s heart-darkening, world-destroying work.
